Clock Rewinders on a Book Binge (10)

Clock Rewinders on a Book Binge is where Tara @ 25 Hour Books and Amanda @ On a Book Bender shamelessly plug each other, share the fantastic posts, giveaways, or whatever else we’ve found and loved by other awesome bloggers (or authors!) during the week, and talk about the books we plan on reading in the coming week. Since Tara and Amanda are such sweethearts, they let us join in on the fun!

MINDFUL MUSINGS RECAP

+  TV Series Review: Roswell. You know...if you're looking for something to add to your Netflix instant queue...

IN NATALIE'S WORLD

As most of you probably already know, my roommate and I spent the last week packing up our things and moving into our new place. And if you were hanging out on Twitter Thursday night and Friday morning, you probably also know that we both had a major freak-out right after we moved in because we found quite a few problems with the place. There was a burner missing in the stove, the refrigerator door was missing two shelves, the back patio door didn't lock, the upstairs smoke alarm and exhaust fan wasn't working, both bathroom sinks went off like geysers when you turned them on, the downstairs shower was missing a faucet, and the upstairs one leaked through the ceiling into the kitchen. Needless to say, I had about a 12-hour long anxiety attack thinking what the hell did we get ourselves into?!?!?! Thankfully, we called up the landlord and explained the situation, and he had his guys over the next afternoon to fix all the issues. And with that out of the way, I DO really like our new place. It's in a better and more convenient part of town, and we're saving almost $100 a month on rent. But because of the initial issues, along with the moving and the packing...well...I haven't gotten much done in the book blogosphere!

AROUND THE BOOK BLOGGING COMMUNITY

Yeah...My Google Reader? I've barely looked at it this week. Oops! I promise there will be more community posts next week!

+ Kelly at Radiant Shadows wrote about YA and the Shame Behind the Label. Definitely worth reading for anyone interested in YA lit!

+ Amanda at On a Book Bender talks about the importance of blogging for yourself.

+ Jordan at Sleep.Eat.Read. is a new find for me, but I found her post "Then and Now" to be incredibly heartfelt and inspiring.

CURRENT EBOOK DEALS

Keep in mind that while these prices were accurate at the time of my posting them, they are subject to change at any time. Also, though I don't have time to cross check all of the Kindle and Nook deals, if you see a bargain book listed for one device, but not the other, you might want to double check yourself to see if it's on sale! The prices are often the same. Finally, to save even more time, I've decided to switch between Amazon and Barnes and Noble deals every week. This week, the links below go to Amazon!

Bought

You guys...I DIDN'T BUY A SINGLE BOOK THIS WEEK. NOT ONE!!! Okay, so I downloaded a couple of freebies but those SO don't count. And LOOK at all those awesome cheap e-books up there! I especially would love to get my hands on The Other Life, but I'm exercising my self-control. That...and I'm pretty much down to my last dollar, and I won't be seeing any more money until the end of the month. But still. I was a good girl, for once. That's one for the record books.

  2. It's great that your landlord sorted it all out, you'd think it would have all been fixed before you moved in!

  5. I'm glad that your landlord was able to fix all the issues right away. Not cool if it had taken him longer or they had left it to you.

And yay for not buying any new books! (And you're right: freebies don't count.)

  7. Eep--sorry about the apartment issues! At least your landlord was on the ball and got y'all squared away. It's hard enough moving to a new place without having lots of things go wrong.

    LOVED Thirteen!

  8. Hey girl! I don't blame you for having a melt down that is a lot of problems in your apartment. I am so glad to hear that it all got fixed. Even though it should have been done before hand. I hope things settle down and get better for you. Awesome will power! I am tempted to buy a bunch off that list but will do it carefully. Thanks for tempting me! Here's to a much better week!

  9. Oh, sorry about the apartment problems! That must have been so frustrating. Glad that your landlord was willing to fix everything.

Good job resisting those ebook deals! I, however, completely gave in to the temptation ;)

Hope you enjoy Thirteen & Counting Backwards!

  10. Moving is the worst. There are always a thousand things that you didn't notice when you saw the place the first time. You're incredibly lucky that your landlord was so willing to get everything fixed.

Personally, I think any time you spend researching deals on ebooks is awesome. I can't believe you found time to do that!

Ohhh yeah... I'm going to snag me some of those cheapo books up there.

*sigh* poor Joe Ledger is being neglected. ;D
