Follow Friday and the Book Blogger Hop!

Feature & Follow Friday is a blog hop that expands your blog following by a joint effort between bloggers. Feature & Follow Friday is now hosted by TWO hosts: Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.

This week's question:

Q: What is one thing you wish you could tell your favorite author?

You guys, I don't actually have ONE favorite author. I have many! I'm sure a lot of you can identify with that though. Anyways, for today's purposes, I'm going to pick Alexandra Bracken, author of the wonderful fantasy novel, Brightly Woven

Brightly Woven

And because apparently it's the day for tweaking things here on Mindful Musings, I'd probably end up sending the letter below to the publisher instead of Alexandra Bracken, because I realize that Bracken has very little control over whether or not her publisher signs her on for a sequel or not.

Dear Egmont Publishing Gods:

Alexandra Bracken is one of the best authors I've seen come out of your publishing house, and that's saying something. Her debut novel, Brightly Woven, was one of my favorite reads of 2010. I'm also super stoked about the upcoming release of her next book, The Darkest Minds. Bracken has a way with characters that sets her writing above the masses of YA literature that are being released every day. As such, I thing you should seriously consider contracting Bracken for writing a sequel to Brightly Woven.

With that being said, I also realize that my wish is an extremely unrealistic one, considering the post Bracken made about this issue earlier this year. But still...a girl can dream, right?

This week's question:

Q: Are you attending the Book Blogger Convention and/or Book Expo America (BEA) this year? If not, will you be participating in Armchair BEA?

I wish! I signed up to go but then decided it wasn't the best financial decision, considering that I already have to make several out-of-state trips this summer for other events. For those of you who are going though, I hope you all have a lot of fun! On the bright side, I actually do get to go to New York in July for a friend's wedding, so at least I'll finally get to check that off my bucket list!

Oh, and I'm TOTALLY up for Armchair BEA this year. It was so much fun last year!

  6. Great letter. I'm not going to BEA either. I'd love to get all the books and meet people but can't justify the cost with a kid to go through college in a few years.

  11. Yes you can dream! I say dream big and it just may happen !!!!

I say that because even though she said it probably wouldn't happen if the 2nd book in her other series takes off like wildfire and people who hadn't discovered BW go read it and demand another one....you never know what the publisher might do.
