Back Cover
After a close encounter with the front end of a school bus, Alona Dare goes from Homecoming Queen to Queen of the Dead. Now she’s stuck here in spirit form with no sign of the big, bright light coming to take her away. To make matters worse, the only person who might be able to help her is Will Killian, a total loser/outcast type who hates the social elite. He alone can see and hear her, but he wants nothing to do with the former mean girl of Groundsboro High.
Can they get over their mutual distrust—and this weird attraction between them—to work together before Alona vanishes for good and Will is locked up for seeing things that don’t exist?

My Thoughts
The Ghost and the Goth isn't a book I would have normally picked up on my own. However, after seeing it around the blogosphere, and reading several good reviews, I decided to give it a shot. The author and publisher were nice enough to send me a copy for review, so a HUGE thanks go out to them.
The two main characters, Will and Alona, were so much fun! Their sarcastic interactions and begrudging affection for each other was fabulous. It didn't take me very long to grow fond of them, and that fondness increased with each page.
I was actually surprised that I liked Alona right off the bat. Usually her type (popular, spoiled cheerleader) annoys the crap out of me. However, I could tell right away that there was a little something below the surface there, and I was right. Kade also does a great job with revealing pieces of the story bit by bit. She gives you enough to to keep you interested, but not so much that the twists are ridiculously obvious.
I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more books by Stacey Kade. She's a very talented author, and I recommend that you give The Ghost and the Goth a try!

ReplyDeleteI was surprised I liked Alona too - and what i loved is that she doesn't change over the course of the book. She stays true to her personality but you like her anyway. And of course I loved Will!

I really liked this one too. Alona was not your typical cheerleader type, which was really nice.
