But during a supercharged encounter with star quarterback Ryan Miller she literally kisses anonymity goodbye. Now the annoyingly irresistible Ryan will stop at nothing to melt the heart of the ice queen and find out what makes her so special.

Unfortunately, Ryan is not the only person on to her secret. Will Jamie learn to contain her unstable powers before being discovered by the media or turned into a government lab rat?

More importantly, can she throw Ryan Miller off her trail before falling in love with him?

My Thoughts

I was lucky enough to be given a copy of Being Jamie Baker for review, so a huge thanks goes out to the author, Kelly Oram, and to her publishing group at Bluefields!

Being Jamie Baker was the perfect summer read for me. It was light and fun, but it still had serious undertones. The first line was pretty catchy, so I had no trouble getting into the book, and the plot moved at just the right pace.

I loved that Kelly Oram decided to give her heroine comic book-like super powers instead of making her some sort of supernatural creature. Not that I don't love my paranormal romance/urban fantasy books (trust me, I DO!), but the way the author gave Jamie her powers made this book really stand out. Speaking of comic books, this book would make for a GREAT comic or graphic novel. Or even a movie adaptation...(Yes, that was me dropping not-so-subtle hints to the powers that be).

Jamie Baker was a great main character, and I fell in love with her almost immediately. She has such a snarky, I-don't-care-what-you-think attitude, but underneath, she's just as vulnerable as the rest of us. The love interest of the book, Ryan, helps her to realize this, and as a result, Jamie does a bit of growing up, which is part of what being a teenager is all about.

I was impressed to find out that Being Jamie Baker is Kelly Oram's debut novel. I think she did a pretty great job with it! I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for more titles by her in the future!
