I've decided to start a new meme called Movie Cast Monday. Anyone can play! Here are the guidelines:
1) Create your own cast for an upcoming book-to-movie adaptation OR pick a book you'd like to see be turned into a movie and choose a cast.
2) Post the book title, author, and summary.
3) Try to pick at least 3 of the main characters to cast.

The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare
For any of you guys who know me, this is an obvious pick! I'm absolutely in love with this series! I was so excited to find out that the film rights have been optioned! Here's my casting:
Emma Roberts as Clary Fray
Emma just comes to mind when I read the books. She can pull off the red hair, she's around the right age, and I think she'd be able to pull off the somewhat fragile girl Clary is in the beginning AND be able to eventually turn into a kick-ass Shadowhunter.
UPDATE 10/23/10: I recently discovered the show Castle, and I think Molly Quinn (who plays Castle's daughter) would be such a great Clary! She's my new favorite pick!
Alex Pettyfer as Jace Wayland
I don't know...Alex just looks like a Jace to me. Plus he's been in Stormrider, so we know he has the ability to be a badass if he wants to. Did I mention that he REALLY looks like Jace? Or at least what I'd imagine Jace to look like.
Kristopher Turner as Simon LewisThis is possibly the most important one for me. As much as I love Jace and Clary, I think several actors could pull them off decently. Simon...well, not so much. But I think that Kristopher would do an awesome job as Simon. Seriously, have you guys seen him act before? He'd make the perfect Simon. I'm willing to give a bit on the other castings, but this one's it for me! :)
Gaspard Ulliel as Alec Lightwood
This one's based on looks alone. This guy just really looks like Alec to me. Though this IS a younger picture of him...and he'd need some blue contacts...
Kate Beckinsale as Jocelyn Fray
What can I say? Kate's an amazing actress and she is perfectly capable of holding her own in a fight. Hello? Underworld anyone?
Alex O' Loughlin as Luke
Vampire....werewolf...if he can play one, he can play the other! Plus I just got done watching Moonlight for the first time and I just might have developed a wee little fangirl crush on him. :)

ReplyDeleteLOL, I just read Shiver and a few times I thought of Gaspard as my Sam, even though Tom Sturridge won in the end. He just looked more Sam-like.

ReplyDeleteYou are GOOD Natalie!!!!! The only one that maybe I would change is Luke. I actually do like the actor you picked out for him and could live with it but I guess I imagined Luke a little more scruffy looking kind of a cute grownup dork (since he wears glasses) that can seriously kick a** . This guy doesn't seem too dorky. The others I think are spot on though:D

My choice of Simon is the dude that will be playing Percy Jackson this coming Feb.
And I will choose Kate Beckinsale and Alex O'Laughlin too. And Gaspar.
Thanks for all the feedback guys! I'm glad that most of you like the new idea! And if anyone comes up with good picks for Magnus and Isabelle, let me know. I spent forever looking for them but I just couldn't find anyone that fit the bill in my mind!

Amazing idea, amzing choices! Only thing is I might choose a different Jace, just because some of your other choices' hottness overshadow him. Nut I think Simon and Luke are spot on, and the rest are great too.
